World Heritage Kyoto DAIGOJI Temple Sanpoin
Sanboin temple was built in 1115 by Shokaku, the 14th head priest of Daigoji Temple. It is the “Honbo” of Daigoji and serves as the residence of the successive head priests. Today, most of the buildings in Sanboin are designated as important cultural properties. The Omote-Shoin, where you can see the full view of the garden, represents shinden-zukuri style architecture in the Momoyama period and is designated as national treasure. Sanboin Garden is designated as a national special historic site and special place of scenic beauty of Japan. It was designed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1598 for the “Daigo Cherry Blossom Viewing Party”, and still retains the gorgeous atmosphere of the Momoyama Period. https://www.daigoji.or.jp/grounds/sanboin.html
