World Heritage Kyoto DAIGOJI Temple Kondo (National Treasure)

The first Kondo (literally, Main Hall) was built in the late Heian period (926) but was later burnt down. The present Kondo was relocated from Yuasa in Kishu (Wakayama prefecture), which was planned by order of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The relocation of the Kondo began in 1598 and was completed in 1600, after the death of Hideyoshi.
