World Heritage Kyoto DAIGOJI Temple – Inside of Kondo (National Treasure) Yakushi triad
The wooden statues of Yakushi triad is enshrined inside the Kondo (literally, Main Hall) were made in the Kamakura period (1185-1333) and are designated as important cultural properties. The Yakushi Triad, consists of a seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai in the center and flanked by two attendants, the bodhisattvas Nikko and Gakko. In addition, standing statues of the Four Heavenly Kings, the guardians of the four cardinal directions, are placed on either side of the Yakushi triad.
